| LOUISIANA MARRIAGE LICENSE
The License should be obtained about two (2) weeks before the wedding in case additional information is needed by the Clerk's office. One person may obtain the license. However, you must have the following for both parties. The person obtaining the license will need an ID such as a driver's license, along with a certified copy of both birth certificates and know both Social Security numbers. You must also know your parents' full name, mothers' maiden name, and the states in which all were born. (See page 3 concerning the Covenant Marriage option.) The fee for obtaining a license is $27.50. A Louisiana marriage requires a Louisiana License, which is valid in every Parish. You do not have to be a Louisiana resident, and no tests are required at this time. If previously married you will need to show proof of how that marriage ended via certified copy or death certificate. There is a 72-hour waiting period before the ceremony can be performed, however any Judge at the Clerk's office can waive the waiting period for elopements or other valid reason. A License is good for 30 days. --Complete details available free upon request via email. It is the responsibility of the Officiant to file the Marriage Documents with the Clerk's office within 10 days of the ceremony. |
